#43 17th birthday in the US

Hey guys,

Last week was my birthday and I turned 17!

My birthday was during the week so I had school and rehearsal for drama. That’s why I came home pretty late and we went to Olive Garden for dinner. I love this place so much, they have the best food and I even got a desert for free :D

After dinner, we went to Sweet Frog to get Frozen Yoghurt because I didn’t want cake and then I opened my presents at home. My host family got me jewelry, clothes, a picture frame and some stuff from Lush. One of my friends also got me a bracelet and a Kinder egg, they are illegal here but somehow she managed to get one :D

I was so happy about all the wishes from my family and friends in Germany, I didn’t even think so many people would text me. And thanks to my parents for the sweet card, my best friend Rebecca who wrote me a cute letter and my best guy friend who wrote me 7 pages!

It was very different from how I’m used to having my birthday in Germany but I had a great time! And I can watch Rated R movies now :D

#43 17. Geburtstag in Amerika

Hallo ihr Lieben,

Letzte Woche hatte ich Geburtstag und bin 17. Jahre alt geworden!

Ich hatte in der Woche Geburtstag und deswegen ganz normal Schule und danach Theaterprobe. Deshalb kam ich erst abends nach Hause und wir sind zu Olive Garden essen gegangen. Das ist ein richtig cooles Restaurant, es gibt dort soo leckere Gerichte und als Geburtstagskind bekam ich auch einen kostenlosen Dessert :D

Danach sind wir noch Frozen Yoghurt essen gegangen, weil ich keinen Kuchen wollte und zu Hause habe ich dann meine Geschenke aufgemacht. Ich habe von meiner Gastfamilie Schmuck, Anziehsachen, einen Bilderrahmen und Sachen von Lush bekommen. Eine Freundin hat mir noch ein Armband und ein Kinder-Ei geschenkt, die sind hier zwar eigentlich illegal, aber irgendwie hat sie es geschafft die im Internet zu bestellen :D

Ich habe mich auch super über die ganzen Glückwünsche von meinen Freunden und meiner Familie aus Deutschland gefreut, ich hätte ehrlich gesagt gar nicht gedacht, dass so viele an mich denken. Auch vielen Dank an meine Eltern für die liebe Karte, meine beste Freundin Rebecca, die mir einen total lieben Brief geschrieben hat und meinen besten Freund, der sich mit seinem 7 Seiten Brief selbst übertroffen hat!

Es war zwar wirklich anders als ich meinen Geburtstag in Deutschland gewöhnt bin, aber trotzdem richtig schön! Und in Amerika darf ich jetzt Rated R Filme schauen :D

#42 99 days left

Hey everyone,

I can’t believe it, but I have less than 99 days in the US!!

Where did the time go? I still remember how I had 3 months left in Germany and was super excited to come here. The exchange students who go this year probably feel the same and the ones here know who fast the time goes by. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve are already over, only my birthday, eastern and Prom is left..

I feel like it was just last week that we all were in New York and I met my host family for the first time. I am just so into my life here right now and so integrated that I can’t even imagine living in Germany. Whenever my friends make plans for the summer and next year I think “oh cool, that’s gonna be fun” at first, but then I realize I won’t even be here by then.

I already know that it will be super sad to say goodbye to everyone, I’m not only a guest anymore, I am a part of my family and of my High School.

It’s so sweet how my friends and family want me to stay here and I even had parents asking me if they can just adopt me :D

For sure, I will enjoy my last couple months here and hopefully, I will travel and see a lot. Soon I am done with my bucket list, from 50 things I have about 15 left.

My sister and I can’t wait for Prom and already look at dresses, where we can get out hair done etc. :D

And in 4 days I will turn 17, I’m so old haha :D
